Bank staff observe fast VIRUDHUNAGAR: Members of the Pandyan Grama Bank (PGB) Employees’ Association and PGB Officers’ Union on Thursday observed a day-long fast pressing for a charter of demands here on Thursday. In a statement the struggle committee president, Madhavaraj, said the employees were facing a lot of hardship due to shortage of hands since the business of the bank had grown manifold in the last 15 years. The bank administration was adopting various anti-labour policies and denying them even basic facilities, he alleged. The associations demanded regularisation of services of all clerks working on temporary basis, filling up of existing vacancies with qualified temporary workers and removal of anomaly in salary for those who got promoted as clerks. |
