Comrades Tapan Sen, Member of Parliament and General Secretary, CITU raised the issue relating to
restructuring of RRB and delinking of RRB from Sponsor Banks through “Special Mention” in Rajya
Sabha on 15th May, 2012.
While debating on Finance Bill on the same date, Comrade Tapan Sen took up the issue for pension parity in favour of RRB staff. He was followed by Shri Ram Chandra Khuntia, Member of Parliament and Secretary, AICC. The exact lines from the proceedings will be sent soon by our AIRRBEA.
Shri Tapan Sen talked to Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Hon’ble Finance Minister, GOI personally on the floor of the Rajya Sabha on 15th May, 2012. The dialogue was as follows:-
Shri Tapan Sen:- “Pension Issue in RRB is long pending with you for a long time. Please allow it
immediately”.
Shri Pranab Mukherjee:- “Dilip Mukherjee happens to be my friend. He is always in contact with me. He regularly reminds me in his letter addressed to me”.
Shri Tapan Sen:- “Do you know that your friend Dilip Mukherjee is sick now”.
Shri Pranab Mukherjee:- “Yes, I know”.
Shri Tapan Sen:- “Before your departure from the Ministry, please announce the pension parity for RRB staff”.
Shri Pranab Mukherjee:- (with smile) “Am I going to leave the Finance Ministry”.
Shri Tapan Sen:- “As the message goes, you are going to be President. In that case please do not leave this issue unsettled”.
Shri Pranab Mukherjee:- “Don’t worry. I shall definitely get it done”.
