  3. Indeed it is really a great achievement accomplished singularly by AIRRBEA. All the efforts of AIRRBEA for joint struggle have been shunned by other organisations under some pretext or other. The timing is very important. It has been clinched with the Finance Minister who has been kept abreast of all the developments including the impact of the historic strike of RRB staff on 8th June 2012 before he demits his office on 24th July. The masterly skill and sense of timing of the Secretary General of AIRRBEA and our beloved com.Dilip Mukerjee played a pivotal role in this. Hats off to him. It is within the knowledge of all the staff of RRBs all over the country including the members of all other orgainsations that the welfare of the staff of RRBs particularly pension for RRB staff at par with the commercial Banks is breath of com.Dilip Mukerjee. The struggle, campaign and the historic strike could achieve this. As I already mentioned in my address on 8th June 2012 during the seminar, that I was always feeling guilty as a commercial bank employee that one section of the staff i.e. RRB staff who was part of the struggle for pension as a third retirement benefit during the early 1990s has been dropped like a hot potato when the issue was finally clinched as a second retirement benefit giving up the management contribution of PF. Now this news helps me to assuage my feelings to a great extent. But EVERY THING IS NOT OVER. Given the nature of the powers that be, there could be many slips between the cup and the lip; our fraternal organisations in the RRBs may also overtly or covertly erect some speed breakers unable to stomach the unique achievement of AIRRBEA. Let us be watchful. Eternal vigilance is the price for liberty. So comrades let us celebrate this great victory which is a big leap in the path of our struggle while simultaneously be vigilant and be ready to respond to any organisational call.
